Bishops, REPENT

This was written by my very best friend and he captures my outrage and anger perfectly:

Our bishops have asked everyone to do penance. That is the ecclesiastical equivalent of Thoughts and Prayers. No I will not do penance for you. You committed the crimes. You do the penance.
YOU discriminate against women. You are so vocal on abortion that the woman who has had one and needs healing would look at the church as the last place to go.
YOU tell half the earth's population they can't be priests because they don't image Christ.
YOU fuel violence against Queer people with your homophobia. You try to deny us the right to love. How Christian of you!
YOU are homophobes. And most homophobes are homos at heart. You scream loudly from inside your closets so that no one will suspect you. I don't know. Most straight men would not be caught dead with a 20 foot scarlet cape. On the other hand many gay men would consider it supreme drag.
YOU helped elect the worst president in American history (and that's saying a lot) because of your obsession with abortion.
YOU refuse to give the rest of us any real input into your decisions. So don't ask us to share the blame!
YOU are silent about the death penalty but constantly seething about abortion. If human life begins at conception it doesn't end with birth.
YOU don't demand the end to our endless wars. That's not pro life: its pro fetus.
YOU and your brothers should do penance. But not just prayers and fasting.
Since most you want to take the Church back to the Dark Ages might I suggest another form of penance highly popular in the early church. How about going to each of your parishes barefoot in sackcloth and ashes to ask our forgiveness! Scourging is another very traditional practice that should help your conversion.
We are told we may be forgiven but we must make restitution. How about following the example of the bishops of Chile? You and your colleagues should resign. That would be a positive sign of your repentance.
